Mallorca has around 60 permanently stationed superyachts over 40 m in length — which makes the island the Mediterranean's fourth-largest superyacht base after Monaco, Antibes and Genoa. Unlike the Côte d'Azur, Mallorca's superyacht business concentrates in a handful of specialist marinas, all in the Bay of Palma. Anyone planning a berth or a refit stay for a yacht above 40 m has four real options — this page compares them honestly.

I arrange roughly 8-15 superyacht-berth constellations in Palma each season — mostly seasonal, occasionally annual contracts, and in two cases a year a transfer of an owner-held berth. This page is the distilled overview drawn from that work.

Club de Mar. Historically Mallorca's most important superyacht marina. Right next to Palma, with a yacht-owners' lounge, fine restaurants, complete concierge structures and a 5-star hotel attached. This is where the island's largest permanently stationed yachts lie. Day rate for a 50 m yacht around €750-950, annual rate €220,000-280,000.

STP Palma. The primary refit-yard marina, operated by Servicios Técnicos Portuarios — the largest Mediterranean refit yard for superyachts. Berths are often tied to refit stays, though standalone annual contracts are possible too. Here service depth dominates over lifestyle: yacht painters (Pinmar, Rolling Stock), engineering (West Mediterranean Yachts), upholstery and interior. Day rate around €600-800 for 50 m, annual rate €180,000-230,000.

Marina Port de Mallorca. Opened 2018, modern design in Palma's active port. Close to the city (Cathedral 800 m), a growing superyacht pool, its own concierge structures still being built up. Day rate around €700-850 for 50 m, annual rate €200,000-260,000.

Real Club Náutico de Palma (RCNP). A traditional sailing club founded in 1948 with around 15 superyacht berths in the Olympic facility. Atmospherically a classic yacht-club character, less glamour than Club de Mar, but depth in a sailing-heritage clientele. Day rate around €550-700 for 50 m, annual rate €165,000-210,000. Yacht-club membership is typically by referral.

Which marina for which owner profile

Premium-lifestyle profile → Club de Mar. If the yacht is used primarily as a seasonal lifestyle asset — with guests, events, fine dining on board and near the marina — Club de Mar is the first choice. Concierge depth, restaurant selection, classic superyacht atmosphere. Premium buyers with a clear Mallorca lifestyle plan.

Refit-and-yard profile → STP Palma. If the yacht frequently needs major refits (annual painting, regular engineering updates, complex upholstery changes), direct STP access saves yard time and towing costs. Roughly 25-30 % of my superyacht clients choose STP as their primary marina, often with a seasonal stay in Club de Mar as a complement.

Modern-city-access profile → Marina Port de Mallorca. Owners who use the yacht as an urban asset — with frequent city berthing, business events on board, a short run to the airport — find here the best balance of modern marina design and city access. A growing share of my younger superyacht clientele.

Sailing-heritage profile → RCNP. Classic superyacht sailors with a racing profile or sailing heritage find the right environment here — the Copa del Rey venue, annual Mediterranean regatta participation, sailing-club membership structures.

West-coast profile → Port Adriano. Owners for whom day-cruising access to the west coast (Sa Dragonera, Cala Llamp, Andratx) matters get more modern facilities in Port Adriano than in the Palma marinas, plus a 30-minute shorter run to the west coast. See the separate Port Adriano berth guide.

The Palma superyacht ecosystem

What makes Palma the Mediterranean's fourth-largest superyacht base is not primarily the marina infrastructure — that is solid, but not exceptional. It is the service ecosystem around it. Over 80 specialist providers serve the superyacht segment exclusively, with short response times and real depth.

Crew agencies. Bluewater, Camper & Nicholsons Crew, Wilsonhalligan, Ocean Crew — all have Palma offices with local account management. Crew availability for a Mallorca posting is markedly higher than for Antibes or Monaco, often with shorter notice periods on sudden crew changes.

Yacht service. Pinmar (yacht painters, the Mediterranean market leader), Rolling Stock (engineering), West Mediterranean Yachts (technical service), N&J Yachts (interior fit-out), STP refit yards (see above). Practically any technical requirement can be handled locally within 2-4 weeks.

Concierge and logistics. 24/7 concierge services, helicopter charter Palma-Mallorca airport, florists with yacht specialty, premium catering suppliers, on-board wellness (massage, yoga, spa), on-board cleaning with yacht experience.

This ecosystem is the real value of a Palma posting compared to, say, Ibiza or Menorca. A 60 m yacht in Ibiza can work in theory — but every technical problem, every crew change, every refit then requires a 5-8 hour tow or passage back to Mallorca. In Palma the same services are reachable in 30 minutes.

Four marinas in the Bay of Palma serve the superyacht segment above 40 m. First: IGY Club de Mar — historically Mallorca's most important superyacht marina, around 90 berths for yachts 30-90 m. Second: STP Palma (Servicios Técnicos Portuarios) — primarily a refit-yard marina, but with around 50 berths for yachts up to 100 m, often seasonal berths tied to a refit stay. 2026 rates for annual berths: a 40 m yacht in Club de Mar runs roughly €140,000-180,000 per year, in STP around €120,000-160,000. A 50 m yacht: Club de Mar €220,000-280,000, STP €180,000-230,000. A 70 m yacht: Club de Mar €380,000-490,000, STP €320,000-410,000. Seasonal berths (April-October) sit at 60-75 % of the annual rate. Add 8-15 % in ancillary charges in each case (electricity, water, security, waste). Transfer values for owner-held berths: a 40 m slot in Club de Mar around €700,000-1.2M, a 50 m slot around €1.1-1.8M, and 70 m+ is a negotiated market with frequently bespoke structures.

How do Club de Mar, STP and Marina Port de Mallorca differ?

Three distinct marina concepts. Club de Mar is the premium superyacht marina in the classic sense — right next to Palma, fine restaurants, a complete concierge service, a yacht-owners' lounge, a helipad ten minutes away. This is where Mallorca's largest permanently stationed superyachts lie. STP Palma is primarily a refit-yard marina, operated by Servicios Técnicos Portuarios — berths are often tied to refit stays, the marina has tremendous service depth (yard, yacht painters, engineering), but less lifestyle infrastructure. Marina Port de Mallorca is newer (opened 2018), modern in design, with a smaller but growing superyacht pool and proximity to the city (Cathedral 800 m). For a stationary summer season: Club de Mar. For refit seasons: STP. For modern design with city access: Marina Port de Mallorca.

What is the waiting-list situation in the Palma superyacht marinas?

Structurally far more relaxed than in Puerto Portals or Andratx, because the superyacht fleet is more fluid (many yachts are only stationed seasonally and head to the Caribbean for the winter). Current wait times, May 2026: Club de Mar 40-50 m typically 8-14 months, 50-70 m typically 6-10 months, and above 70 m almost always available with 2-4 months' lead time. STP: 3-8 months depending on size, often faster via a refit arrangement. Marina Port de Mallorca: 4-9 months. Seasonal berths (April-October only) are typically bookable in all three marinas 4-12 weeks before the season starts. Anyone enquiring in October can usually plan for the following season.

What refit-yard access do the Palma superyacht marinas have?

STP Palma is itself the largest Mediterranean refit yard for superyachts — over 200,000 m² of yard space, 6 dry docks up to 90 m, accredited for Lürssen, Feadship and Benetti service. Yachts up to 90 m staying at STP can have painting, engineering and upholstery work carried out concurrently. Club de Mar uses STP as an external yard partner — yachts in a Club de Mar berth are typically moved to STP for larger works (a 15-minute tow). Marina Port de Mallorca works with smaller specialist yards in the port's industrial zone. For owners who plan regular major refits, direct STP access is valuable — a reduction of 1-2 weeks of yard time per refit is not unusual.

What crew services and concierge structures are available?

Palma has by far the highest density of crew services in the western Balearics. Over 80 specialist providers serve the superyacht segment: crew agencies (Bluewater, Camper & Nicholsons Crew, Wilsonhalligan), helicopter charter, helicopter transfers between yacht and airport, provisioning suppliers for premium catering, on-board wellness and spa, florists, professional cleaning. Marina Port de Mallorca has its own, less extensive concierge structure that is still being built up.
