Five harbours where I have berthed in person for years — with my honest read on which one suits whom.
Mallorca has more than twenty harbours, but only a handful are truly suited to demanding yachts. In my daily work as a yacht broker, my clients' berth questions almost always circle the same five addresses — Puerto Portals, Port Adriano, Club de Mar, Puerto Andratx and the Real Club Náutico de Palma. Together these five marinas cover the entire spectrum: from the traditional fishing-village harbour, to the premium address for owners of mid-size yachts, all the way to the megayacht facility with a 700-tonne lift. Anyone looking for a berth on the island will pass through this shortlist.

A marina is more than a berth — it becomes your second home on the island.
How do I choose the right marina?
The right marina comes down to three factors: yacht size, type of use, and personal lifestyle. An 18-metre sport yacht intended as a weekend boat belongs in a different harbour than a 65-metre megayacht with permanent crew. Equally different are the expectations of owners who want their yacht in a quiet cove away from the bustle, compared with charter professionals seeking maximum visibility.
Up to 25 metres: Puerto Andratx or Puerto Portals
Yachts in this size class fit into almost every Mallorcan harbour, but the best balance of comfort, location and atmosphere is offered by Andratx (for its calm island character) and Portals (for the premium atmosphere and the shortest distances to services and restaurants). Both harbours are in high demand, especially in peak season — anyone wanting a summer berth should reserve by spring at the latest.
25 to 50 metres: Puerto Portals or Port Adriano
In this class the field narrows. Portals is the established premium address, with a clientele that values tradition and long-grown service structures. Adriano is the more modern alternative — larger pontoons, newer infrastructure, a younger clientele. If you're weighing which harbour fits better, take a look at both on a summer weekend: the atmosphere differs markedly.
Over 50 metres: Club de Mar or Port Adriano
For megayachts the choice narrows to two locations. Club de Mar offers the greatest depth (up to 6.5 m), the largest travel lift (700 t) and immediate proximity to the city — Adriano scores with state-of-the-art megayacht facilities and a quieter setting. Owners whose yacht is in refit are almost always better served at Club de Mar; those who want to spend the season in a relaxed way, often at Adriano.
A special case: Real Club Náutico de Palma
The RCNP is the choice for owners to whom regatta tradition, club culture and the location directly in front of the cathedral matter more than the last technical specification. Club membership is a chapter of its own — if you plan to stay longer, it's worth examining seriously.
