Luxury Motor Yachts Mallorca
Princess, Sunseeker, Sanlorenzo, Azimut, Ferretti. The motor-yacht market on Mallorca — brands, price bands, berthing reality, and the economics of ownership for UK buyers.
Mallorca's motor-yacht market is the deepest in the western Mediterranean — over 4,000 motor yachts above 35 ft are based or seasonally berthed on the island. The mix skews towards British and Italian yards, with German and Northern European yachts representing the high-end Custom segment. For UK buyers, the island offers structural advantages over the French Riviera (berth availability, year-round mild weather, better service economics) and over the Greek islands (depth of brokerage market, more buyers, faster resale).
This page covers the motor-yacht market as I see it from the broker side: the brands that dominate, the realistic price bands for what's actually trading, the running-cost expectations, and the berthing reality that often surprises UK buyers more than the purchase price itself.
A motor yacht on Mallorca is a fifteen-year decision. The brand choice matters less than the berth strategy and the structure behind it.
The brand landscape
British yards. Princess and Sunseeker dominate the UK-buyer-driven segment of the Mallorca market. Princess yachts are typically more conservatively styled with strong owner-operator ergonomics and proven North-Sea sea-keeping; the F-class and V-class are the volume sellers, with the M-class (motoryacht) and Y-class (semi-displacement) representing the larger end. Sunseeker leans sportier with the Manhattan and Predator ranges; the Portofino and Yacht series compete with Sanlorenzo at the upper end. Both yards have strong dealer networks in the Balearics with fast parts supply.
Italian yards. The Mediterranean specialist. Sanlorenzo leads the contemporary segment with the SL and SX ranges (the SX76 and SX88 are particularly common on Mallorca). Azimut spans a wider price range with Magellano (long-range), Atlantis (sport), and Grande (premium) lines. Ferretti is the volume player in the 60-90 ft segment. Riva is rarer but unmistakable — owners typically keep them for decades. Ferretti Group also owns Pershing, Itama, Wally and a few other specialty marques.
German yards. The custom segment. Lürssen, Abeking & Rasmussen, and Nordhavn-style trawlers from Bremen yards represent the apex of the Mallorca motor-yacht market — yachts above 30 m, often custom-built, with German engineering reliability that holds value over 20+ years. Bavaria builds production yachts at the entry end, mostly under 50 ft.
American yards. Marlow, Westport, Hatteras and similar long-range cruisers appear sporadically on the resale market, usually imported by UK or Northern European buyers who relocated to Mallorca permanently. These yachts tend to trade at slight discounts to comparable European builds because of the Atlantic-relocation premium.
